On what hopes to be a warm sunny day in May, 30,000 runners will lace up their Nikes and fill the streets of Pittsburgh for the 2014 Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon. This non-profit organization promotes the love of long-distance running and enhances community involvement in fitness activities through high quality events. Runners will compete in the full marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5K a kids marathon and of course the pet walk.
VALENTI was asked to design and create a Special Edition Commemorative Art Print to raise funds that would benefit summer running programs for underprivileged youth in Pittsburgh.
As in any project we like to give our clients a range of work to consider before we enter into the final design phase. So concepts were presented and together we selected the direction thought best for this project.
The Director of Sponsorship for the Pittsburgh Marathon and our key contact, Troy Schooley, directed us to work within their current theme of “Run Home to Pittsburgh”. Also at our disposal was the idea of the “Runner of Steel” a theme used in all the past marathons and well known by the runners.
With these elements to work with along with the iconic “Yellow” bridges of Pittsburgh we were very happy with the outcome of the final art.
Each print will be reproduced on heavy weight water color paper and signed by Michael Valenti before being shipped.
